Description

The purpose if this course is to provide participants with an overall awareness and understanding of ACL rehab from surgery to rehab, as well as the different objectives that must be met in order to transition into a new phase of rehab. There will be a discussion of a new technique, which is currently in a trial phase and is sought to help revolutionize recovery and decrease OR time and possibly rehab time. This course will also touch on history of ACLR, including the group who has created the gold standard and how the tears occur; the new B.E.A.R. trial study; different types of grafts used; the actual surgical technique used worldwide; and the phases of the protocol and advancements with exercises.

At the completion of this webinar, registrants will be able to:

1. Correctly state 3 reasons why a specific graft selection is made for ACL reconstruction.

2. Correctly state 3 reasons why one ACL reconstruction technique is the Gold Standard for surgery.

3. Correctly state 5 aspects of the phases of pre-rehab and post-rehab.

4. Correctly state 3 of the pros and cons to having the surgery vs having a non-operative.

5. Correctly state 2 key exercises in each phase of ACL rehab.

Course Outline

Section 1 - History of the ACLR, MOON group, how does the injury occur, reasons for surgery (40 minutes)
Section 2 - New trial B.E.A.R. study (20 minutes)
Section 3 - Types of grafts used with the advantages and disadvantages of each selection (30 minutes)
Section 4 - The surgery technique, risk and benefits, non-surgical option and pre surgical goals (30 minutes)
Section 5 - Rehabilitation and goals for all phases from day 1 to return to sport (60 minutes)
