The Synthesis course is our certification course. This course, if passed, will allow a person to become a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist (CIMT).
Our certification program will train people to assess dysfunction from a whole body perspective. This certification will help a therapist "connect the dots" from where the driver of the pain is to where the symptoms are, using an eclectic manual therapy approach.
For the past few years we have received consistent requests to create a certification program, but we wanted to make sure that we created a great program. We wanted to make sure the CIMT certification would produce great manual therapists. We are proud to present the Certified Integrated Manual Therapist program and the Synthesis course.
Registrant's must complete all 7 required courses before they are eligible to sit for the CIMT certification. There are no restrictions on how quickly you must complete the courses or how quickly you can take the Synthesis course after you complete the final course required, however we encourage you to make sure that you have had sufficient time to gain a working knowledge of the techniques before sitting for the certification.
Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, and Occupational Therapists are eligible to become CIMT's.
Please note! Due to the continuing increase in states' restriction of PTAs to do mobilization, the stance of the APTA on this matter and the restriction of PTAs to assess, beginning January 1, 2011 Physical Therapist Assistants will no longer be eligible to sit for the Synthesis course or become certified as a CIMT through Great Lakes Seminars.
The Synthesis course will be a four day course that will have pre-assigned readings and study materials and will integrate all of the program courses together. The course will also add in advanced techniques in all areas, "connect the dots" of the material from each course and help shape your thinking about treating dysfunction. The final day of this course will be a comprehensive written, oral, and lab examination which, if passed, will allow a person to become a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist.
